Friends, Crafters, and the Heart of Craft n Chat
At Craft n Chat in Huddersfield, everything we do is built on friendship, creativity, and community. What started as a long-held dream between two best friends has grown into a warm, welcoming space where people can relax, create, and connect.
Lisa and Theresa met at high school back in 1984, and their friendship has seen them through exams, marriages, children, and every twist of life since.
The idea for Craft n Chat began as a dream to create a cosy, community-driven workshop space where anyone could come to make, chat, and unwind. In November 2024, on the way to a large craft show, Lisa and Theresa started talking seriously about making that dream a reality. When the building next door to Lisa’s childcare business became available, they immediately saw its potential.
By December they had the keys, and after plenty of hard work (and a lot of coffee), they opened the doors to Craft n Chat on 18 January 2025. Since then, it’s become a creative hub for locals and a place where laughter, learning, and crafting go hand in hand.

Meet Lisa
Lisa has always been someone who finds joy in caring for others and creating things by hand. After leaving school, she trained as a nurse, midwife, and reflexologist all while keeping her creative streak alive. She later spent eight years living in London but stayed in touch with Theresa as if they’d never been apart.
Life for Lisa is full and family-centred. She’s a proud mum of three and shares her home with a collection of animals including rabbits, dogs, and a horse. In 2006, she founded Ducklings Childcare, a thriving local business built on the same warmth and community spirit that defines Craft n Chat.
Lisa says crafting has always helped her through life’s ups and downs, happy times and hard times alike. For her, making something by hand is more than a hobby; it’s a way to find calm, focus, and connection. That belief sits at the very heart of everything Craft n Chat stands for.
Meet Theresa
Theresa is the other half of the Craft n Chat duo and has been Lisa’s best friend since high school. A natural people-person with a big laugh and a bigger heart, she brings energy, humour, and creativity to every session.
Outside Craft n Chat, Theresa works as a self-employed cleaner and Darcey’s home fragrance rep. She’s married to Andy, who has long since accepted Lisa as part of the family, and she’s mum to daughter Hannah who frequently volunteers as “craft guinea pig” for new workshop ideas.
Theresa loves her Prosecco, sunshine, and good books. In summer, you’ll often find her reading in the garden or by the sea, and in winter she’s happiest surrounded by crafts, fairy lights, and a mug of mulled wine at a Christmas market. Her passion for creativity and connection makes her the perfect co-host for Craft n Chat’s warm, welcoming workshops.

Together, Lisa and Theresa have created more than just a craft space, they’ve built a community. Craft n Chat is a place where creativity, friendship, and wellbeing come together, where every person is welcomed, every cup of tea is refilled, and every crafter leaves with something handmade and heartfelt. Whether you join a knitting, glass painting, or wreath making workshop, or simply pop in for a chat and a cuppa, you’ll always find friendly faces and a space to unwind.
